![]() ![]() Just as Jesus lived in a sinful world but kept the Will of The Father, am I too, imitating Him? Have I given up my own ways for His because I fully trust in the outcome? Recognizing my pathway to peace is a path that only He can provide. Have I been intentional about creating a life for myself where I truly live in every moment and day that is given me? Remembering that in this life I will have trouble, (it has been written) but enduring that hardship with endurance and not allowing it to devour me with darkness. Here’s what it showed me I implore you to do the same for yourself □ĭo I live in peace about things that are outside of my control? Am I able to identify which habits I need to change in my life and not hesitating to be proactive in creating that change? How many times do I question, delay or even resist change in my life? Ultimately, am I submitted to The Holy Spirit and allowing Him to conform me to Himself? I found that the prayer is rooted in biblical truth. Rather than just reading the prayer, I chose to meditate on the words to really digest it. ![]() So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,Īnd supremely happy with You forever in the next. Trusting that You will make all things right, God, give us grace to accept with serenityĪccepting hardship as a pathway to peace, I suppose the future has always been uncertain, but now I just realize it a lot more. I’ve been searching for peace that surpasses understanding by focusing on God’s truth. I feel like my anxiety is finally on a plateau low for the first time in as long as I can remember. I really wanted to break down the prayer and allow it to resonate. God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,Ĭourage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. But perhaps you will object, ‘They have placed this in my own power.’ Well then, would it not be better to make use of what lies within your power as suits a free man rather than to strain for what lies beyond it in a slavish and abject fashion? In any case, who told you that the Gods do not assist us even in things that lie within our power? Begin at least to pray so, and you will see. If they have no power, why do you pray? If they have power, why do you not pray to them to grant you the ability neither to fear, nor to desire, nor to be distressed by any of these external things, rather than praying that some of them should fall to you and others not? For surely, if the Gods have any power to help human beings, they can help them in this. The Philosopher King Marcus Aurelius wrote,Įither the Gods have power or they have none. The determination to overcome my challenges,Īnd the resilience to bounce back from setbacks.” “Let me have the strength to face my fears, “Let me have the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Here are a few more non-religious versions of the Serenity Prayer: I’ll be brave enough to change my current conditions,Īnd only compare myself to who I was yesterday.
